Initially created so that the passers-by escape the noise of the street, the passages were then destined to make purchases and meet people. They were quite abandoned when department stores were created but they had a renewal of interest in the 20th century thanks to writers and photographers.They are all situated on the right bank, close to the department stores, and host shops and restaurants. They appear under the shape of alleys, often covered.
