Bastille Day July 14th 2009


In fact you may know it as Bastille Day, and it is true !!! We celebrate the French Revolution which happened in 1789.
At first it was just a Parisian celebration. In 1880 the government decided to make it a National Day.

What do we do on July 14th ?
First the Grand Defilé at Champs-Elysées. But if you won’t get up early it is better to see it on TV. It starts on TV arroun 9 am.
Le Bal des Pompiers : On July 13th and 14th The firemen organize dance-parties around the Country. It is the same in Paris. Also in Paris there will be music at Place de la Bastille.
In Le Cannet there will be a Bal des Pompiers on the 13th at Place Foche around 8h30 pm.

FIREWORKS :
In Paris it takes Place at the Champs de Mars. Just before (6 pm) there will be a French concert with Johnny Hallyday and Christophe Mae. The Fireworks will start at 10h45pm and it seems it will be great as they celebrate the Eiffel Tower 120 years ! There is also a web where you will be able to see it. To know more clik here.
In Cannes The Fireworks take place for the Pyrotechnic Festival of Cannes 2009. They will take place near the Palais des Festivals.

CANNES - FESTIVAL D ART PYROTECHNIQUE


This is festival created by Cannes City in 1967, is a competition were 5 selected participants will presented a firework show based on a theme and accompanied with sound.
To select the winner of the Vestale d’Argen (Trophy), will judge on the program, music, synchronization, colors ant rhythm.

You can also vote for the public winner on internet
On this web you will be able to see the shows the day after they were played.

This year 5 companies from 5 countries will play as follow :

July 14 – French National day – Italy will open the competition with the company PARENTE.
July 21st will play PIROFANTASIA a Spanish group of Carlos Caballer who’s family works on fireworks since 1877. After the show there will be the concert of Susuma.
Juli 29th Poland will be represented for the first time at the festival with the group SUREX. It will be followed with a concert of Jazz music with the group Pommes de ma Douche.
August 7th will be the turn to the French Group PRESTATECH. And then there will be the Kocani Orkestar concert.
August 15th The group PYROVISION, from Austria, will end the competition. There will be also a concert : Caligagan.

On August 24th we will know the prized group. And for the ceremony there will be another firework : the Italian group PANZERA , which comes often to this festival will make the last show.

International Festival of Fashion Photography - Cannes


The International Festival of Fashion Photography, takes place in Cannes for its 7th edi tion.
Until August 15th You will see the monumental pictures exhibited in the town :
In the Croisette in Cannes from June 25th to August 15th
The tourist Office until July 15th
Macé square until August 15th
Antibes street from July the first until August 15th
Also at the Port Canto rose garden are presented, as each year, the Festival guest of honour’s work. This year, the International Festival of Fashion Photography is pleased to pay tribute to the world-famous fashion photographer Guy Bourdin.
In 2009 a Fashion Photography Prize will be awarded to a con firmed artist and an other Fashion Photography Prize will be given to a Young Talent. The Jury this year is composed of Laurence Benaïm, Stiletto editor, Peter Knapp, photographer and artistic director, Jean-Luc Monterosso, director of The European House of Photography.

The Tour de France will start on July 4th in Monaco.

Cité de la musique : Reopening of the Musée de la musique !

The Musée de la Musique is housed within the Cité de la Musique, in the heart of the Parc de la Villette.

Over an area of 3,000 m², visitors can see 1,000 instruments and art objects. The museum takes visitors on a chronological journey through Western musical forms from the 17th century to the present day, and on a geographical journey through different aspects of non-European music.

Visits to the museum have their own musical dimension – an audio guide includes many recordings of instruments in the collections and there are daily free concerts. Also every day the museum organises a concert see the program while arriving there.

For anyone interested in music, as well as for tourists willing to discover something new, no stay in Paris can be complete without a visit to the Musée de la Musique.

This very interesting exhibition explains how the sailor uniforms have influenced French Fashion and society.
It will be possible to admire uniforms since 1840 next to a hundred haute couture outfits by such luminaries as Chanel, Saint-Laurent, Gaultier, Ted LApidus or Yohji Yamamoto, see how designers have been inspired, and which personalities have adopted nautical stripes.
